Personal Statement on Mario A. González a.k.a. Ergo Comix

Mario,

This past week, you have accused me of being an AI bot, a fascist, not actually a child, and apparently not even existing. You deleted some of it after posting it, but people saw it. I saw it. And I’m not going to act like it did not affect me.

Let’s start with fascism, because that one is honestly ridiculous. You brought up Palestinian children while calling me a fascist, as if that somehow proved something. If we are talking about places where fascism is a real and present danger right now, Palestine is an obvious country to name. It is also widely known for campaigns using AI-generated images and children who do not exist. That does not exactly help your argument.

I am against fascism. Anyone who has actually read my writing would know that. You clearly have not, or you would not be making claims this stupid.

Then there is AI. Do I use AI? Yes, obviously. If I were completely against AI, I would also have to be against my speech-generating tablet, because that relies on AI too. A lot of useful technology does.

People keep acting like AI only means chatbots and image generators. It does not. AI is in navigation, recommendation algorithms, spellcheck, grammar tools, autocomplete, medical imaging, disease detection, drug development, smartwatches, banking software, and a very long list of other things. Without AI, a lot of technology people have used for years would not exist. The fact that you do not seem to realise AI is not new says more about your knowledge of AI than it does about mine.

And yes, I have used AI for image generation. But no, I do not use it for my writing. That said, you are supposedly an illustrator, and your own images come back as AI, so I do not think I am the one who needs to explain myself here. You are an artist attacking child for using AI while using it yourself. That is hypocrisy at its most obvious.

As for me being a bot, not a real child, or not existing at all, there is a very simple way to settle it. Contact my management, arrange to meet me, and actually show up. If you do not believe I write what I write, I will write poetry while you watch me do it. In your case, I would want it recorded by my management, so you can never again make false claims about me and pretend they were true.

I dare you to take me up on that. I could use the outreach and recognition of a published illustrator. This is your chance, Mario. Show everyone the truth. Take the offer, or admit you are nothing but a bunch of words. I am not asking you to believe me because I said so. I am asking you to prove your own claim. If you will not do that, then stop pretending your accusations are about truth. They are not. They are just things you say because you think you can get away with it.

I would rather be writing poems right now. I would rather be sharing something I actually care about. But I refuse to sit quietly while an adult questions whether I am real, calls me a fascist, and uses AI accusations to make people doubt my work. So, one more time: contact my management. Set it up. Show up.

Or leave me alone.
